Test Sketch
After few trials of the marking and understanding of the basic materials. Here's the implementation of a sketch using the Mark Making methods. I went through several online tutorials to get myself started. Just to quote a few, like rapiffireart.com and creativebloq.com.
First of all we would need to keep in mind on few things that always restricts ourselves.
- Sketching : Just as it has been defined in the dictionary, it is a rough drawing or general outline of a picture or item. So we need to keep it at an outline form and scribbles, and soft lines and soft grips are needed. Then we continuetto build until we achieve the true visualized results.
- Don't be afraid to make mistakes : In my opinion, mistakes is something unavoidable in our everyday life. Everyone do make mistakes. It doesn't mean we stop once we make a mistake. We learn from mistakes and we explore on different methods or just as it was quoted in rapiffireart, we use it to our advantage. If we can't then we move on.
Step By Step...
I'm following the tutorial from rapidfireart.com
Note : Work in layers
Note : Work in layers
Step 1 : Sketch A Circle Loosely
Step 2 : Refine The Shape
Identify areas that needs improvement and sketch over it to get the desired results.
Step 3 : Keep Refining
Keep repeating step 2 until we get closer to what we wanted. As of now, it's a circle.
Are we allowed to turn of sketch books?
Yes. It says we are allowed to rotate our sketchbooks to view it at a different angle to get remaining fixes done. This is art and not some schematic drawings which has a set of rules to it.
Step 4 : Define The Shape
Once we are satisfied with step 2 and step 3, enhanced the drawing with a bold line to achieve the shape we are looking for.
What to do with the scribbly lines?
We have 2 options here.
Option 1 : Erase them
Option 2 : Let it disappear naturally. I don't really think it will disappear naturally as in poof it's gone. But more of an option 1. It actually gets erased by our hands eventually.

Assignments
To end the lesson, there's an assignment given. Using the above 4 steps as guidelines, we are to accept the challenge and make 50 sketches in our sketchbook.
Additional note as this is just the beginning:
Phew! This was my completed assignment. It was fun. ☺
Additional note as this is just the beginning:
- Don't be a perfectionist.
- Focus on shapes and not the details.
- Use a gentle amount of pressure. Don't overwork and kill the fun of it.
Phew! This was my completed assignment. It was fun. ☺
